With EcoAid, you can easily calculate your carbon footprint and then reduce it with energy-saving projects and ideas. Ultimately you will be able to regulate your emissions by funding clean energy and carbon reduction projects that are key in fighting climate change.

Simply input your information into EcoAid's carbon calculators, including your applicable carbon emissions for any flying, driving or home energy usage and then we will give you the tools to offset them in a safe way—leaving you feeling empowered.

What makes EcoAid unique?

EcoAid is a group of individuals from varied backgrounds, yet a common belief to remain steadfast in improving the environment—from zoologists to restaurateurs and PhD's to activists.

In addition to our staff making us unique, so do our varied services. We offer companies and individuals the ability offset as well as helping companies rethink their businesses to prepare for the inevitability of cap and trade through our EcoAid Consulting service. Our EcoCar Carbon Offset Registry is also unique in that it empowers dealerships to better the environment and increase business by turning the cars on their lot and showroom floors into EcoCars.

What is a carbon footprint?

The term carbon footprint is named after carbon dioxide, the principal cause of climate change. It represents the total greenhouse gases a person or company is personally responsible for adding into the atmosphere.

Whenever you use energy created from fossil fuels such as oil or coal, you're generating carbon emissions. Common activities that add to your carbon footprint include flying, driving, heating and cooling of the home, overall electricity use, as well as the products you buy.

What is a carbon offset?

A carbon offset is an investment in a project or activity that reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the atmosphere by one metric ton (2,205 lbs) to combat climate change.

Businesses and individuals alike may seek to offset by focusing on activities such as air travel, lifestyle, or products and services.

Carbon offset projects most typically involve investments in forestry activities, energy efficiency projects, the avoidance of methane emissions and renewable energy.

Are Carbon offsets a substitute for conservation?

While carbon offsets are important, the first step in reducing carbon dioxide emissions is conservation or reducing reusing and recycling. At EcoAid we can give you the tools you need to practice conservation and then we will help you offset what you can't.

What is Additionally, does EcoAid practice this?

Additionally asks the question—Are carbon-offset purchases really bringing about carbon reductions, or would the reductions have occurred anyway? In other words, if the purchase of carbon offsets is an important aspect in making the reductions occur, the reductions are said to be “additional” to the typical case.

At EcoAid, we realize that Additionality is an important feature of high-quality offsets. To ensure that all EcoAid offsets are additional, we attribute a number of quality control methods to evaluate our offsets prior to every purchase.

In addition, we also require that there is an adherence to all third-party additionality standards as well as divulging our own purchasing history for a rigorous external audit.

What are the business benefits of carbon offsets?

Companies are exploring carbon offsets in response to regulatory requirements as well as voluntary commitments.

On the regulatory side, offsets help companies cost-effectively achieve reduction targets that are quickly becoming more common throughout a more environmentally aware world.

Offsets may be purchased for reasons including meeting business goals to reduce a company's carbon footprint, preparing for emissions trading or a regulatory check, enhancing the brand of the company as a group of forward thinkers. engaging employees on environmental issues and more.

What kind of carbon reduction projects does EcoAid support?

When you buy a carbon offset from EcoAid, you are purchasing verified carbon offsets from the Chicago Climate Exchange and supporting forestry projects.

Every EcoAid project meets the highest quality standards including independent verification, monitoring, and reductions that take place in the present year.

Why buy carbon offsets?

When you buy an EcoAid carbon offset, you are helping to moderate your own contribution to climate change by funding greenhouse gas reductions. But before offsetting, it is important to practice conservation. To do this you can lessen electricity use in your home, carpool, drive a more fuel-efficient car, bike, or use public transportation.

However what you cannot prevent, you can offset with EcoAid. EcoAid helps you purchase carbon offsets that will balance out 100% of the emissions you can't eliminate through conservation.
